Hah! I just stumbled upon a few more pics from Georgia. Aren’t they the cutest? At the time the photo was taken, Casey, Carson, Kristen, and Burton were all going into 9th grade. This fall they will be seniors. Wow … the time sure raced by!






Music Monday: When the rain comes

Kat has a “Music Monday” thing going. While cracking up over some of her statements, I was reminded of songs I HATED as a kid because the lyrics were SO LAME. Sorry, capitals are so necessary here.

Anyone remember the pina colada song? How about that one that said something like, “I’ve been to paradise but I’ve never been to me.” Let’s not forget Meatloaf’s, “I love you. I need you. But there ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you.” Please, someone, tell me the chic he sang that to told him to take a long walk off a short pier (lame sentence to honor lame songs).

Anyhoo, back to focusing on Philippians 4:8-9 ….

Here is Third Day’s song “When the Rain Comes.” It has impacted me greatly over the years. Yeah, I wish I’d written it. Mostly, I’m thankful for it’s truth!

Thesis Inspiration from wil wheaton

I’ve been dealing with some big time anxiety regarding my thesis. Overall, I’m a good writer. On occasion, I am accidentally inspirational. Initially, I am sloppy and I ignore spelling and grammatical “stuff” to preserve the “auto-magical flow” of my thoughts. I am the self-proclaimed poster child for “creative”[1]

My thesis, for the sake of scholarly stuffiness, requires that it be written APA style.[2] Sadly, this messes with my “auto-magical flow.” Wil Wheaton posted some writing inspiration that I think I can use to combat my anxiety. How Wheaton inspired me:

  • Don’t be afraid to suck.
  • You’re gonna suck and that’s okay.
  • It’s easier to fix a page with words that suck than it is to fill up a blank page & it’s less intimidating.
  • Eventually you will get around to fixing everything into what you want it to be. This is the time to be extraordinary.
  • Resist the urge to get famous (or get it perfect).
  • Be authentic.
